Hello All,
I am new to boating and as a month ago became an owner of a 33 Aft Cabin (diesel, Volvo Penta Kamd-42A). I am trying to locate the switches for the courtesy steps leading down to the aft cabin. There is also a switch inside the rear deck shower hatch for lights. When I flip those switches, nothing happens. Any thoughts on where the mystery switch is?

Welcome aboard! That's probably a pretty rare combo with the diesels in that size boat, but a great one!

I'm sure someone with a similar model will give you some clues on the switches.

Welcome to the forum.....would it be possible the bulbs are just burnt out.....put a tester on the light fixtures and flip some switches. Lots of times that is all it is....corrosion /bad bulbs etc.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.....

Welcome aboard! I envy your diesels! Nice rig!

On my '92 33' AC, enter the main cabin, turn 180 deg, you will see two switches on the bulkhead just to the left of the entry handrail, right hand side of the aft cabin entrance.

One switch is for the courtesy lights, the other for the cabin ceiling recessed lights.

The switches for the aft deck overhead lights and the deck/bridge courtesy lights are in the locker between the main cabin steps and the bridge steps on the aft deck. Look up underneath the top lip, they are way up in there, out of line of sight.

If I’m not mistaken, my 356 is just a slightly larger, updated version of the 33 aft and that is where my switches are as well.
And agree with above, your bulbs may simply have burned out. If they are, I suggest replacing with LED equivalents as well as all your 12v bulbs. Those halogens use a lot of battery power and are very hot. LED’s are much cooler and use a fraction of the battery power.

Thank you all. Away from the boat now but will check what you've suggested.

HI All...Im having a similar dilemma.

I have a switch I am not sure what it controls. It is the middle switch on a three gang panel, on the side as you go down to the galley. The switch on the left and on the right of this one, both work and control map lights. Its the one in the middle Im stuck on...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a wild guess , check if it controls engine room/area lighting if you have it. Perhaps if you have the lighting they are burnt out so you don't see what the switch does, in that case check with a multi meter.

Hopefully someone with the same boat can say for sure.

Agree with bud, most likely the engine room light. FYI, in my 356, the engine room light is so weak, you can only see it on at night when all other lights are off.
