Carver 405/406 question

Postby VicB » July 25th, 2025, 8:58 am

My wife and I are considering upgrading our 3807 to bit larger boat with diesels and different layout. We’ve looked at several brands and keep going back to a 405 or 406. We’ve only been on one and she says she remembers me having to duck down in the bedrooms and heads. I’m 6’2 and don’t remember that. As with most wives, her recollection is much keener than mine, but I wanted to get the right answer from folks who may own one. Can a 6’2” person stand up in those areas?
Thanks in advance (and I’m counting on ya’ll)

When shopping for my first aft cabin, I remember being super excited about an ‘89 carver 36 aft cabin right up to the moment I stepped down into the salon and either cabin. I’m 6’-3” and my head was touching nearly everywhere i went inside. I found a ‘92 350 AC with plenty of clearance and now I have a 2004 366 that seems to have even a bit more. Maybe look at a few yrs newer version?

I have a 405 and am 6'1, i dont duck anywhere, theres still room above me, how much I've never measured but I don't think 1" more is going to be a problem or maybe it will. The only sure fire way is get on another I see how it feels for yourself. I can take some measurements too. If the style is right for you I think you'll be happy with the room inside the cabin and engine access in the engine room. Good luck
