New owner

Postby RyDrew » August 17th, 2025, 8:56 am

Hello all,

My offer was accepted on what appears to be a meticulously cared for 36 Mariner with twin Crusader 5.7's. Hopefully my observations will be confirmed after the survey. I'm retired and relatively new to boating. I'm selling my first boat which was quite an adventure. A 2004 Four Winds 268 Vista. Hopefully I've learned a few things and this one will be a better experience.

I also drive and maintain older classic cars as a hobby and find these forums to be a wonderful resource. I do what I can myself and leave the tough stuff to the experts. Looking forward to the journey.

Does anyone have any "model specific" issues that I should look for before we consummate the deal?

Thanks and Best Regards,
RyDrew

So how is the purchasing process going? Have you surveyed yet?

It's done, we finally closed on October 14. The survey was done on September 2 which uncovered some potential issues with the crusader 5.7's. But she ran great and we liked the boat enough to negotiate. It took a few weeks but we got concessions to cover more than half of the potential re-power should it be needed down the road. I'll have some more in depth analysis done when we bring her in for the winter. I pick her up in Stamford, CT tomorrow and drive back to Westbrook tomorrow. It will be a good 3-4 hour shakedown. I'm hoping she runs well enough to hold off on the major repairs if any. The smaller stuff I will get cracking on and will post some questions to the forum.

Nice looking boat. Hope any issues are farther down the road. Good luck.
