Noflex Digester VS Sodium Percarbonate

Have been using Noflex Digester for a few years now and must admit it works very well for not only controlling holding tank odours but also cleaning the tank and lines. Only drawback is it is rather spendy and difficult to find however ordering on the web has simplified things except for those delivery costs which add even more to the product. https://marinesan.com/noflex-digestor/

Been comparing and reading quite a bit since haul out last fall. Just do some searching for sodium percarbonate and noflex. The active ingredient is Noflex is 80% sodium percarbonate which is an oxidizing agent. Have come across multiple post claiming percarbonate works the same as Noflex however before I say it does I will need a trial season on the water. Probably will work better as I wont be so skimpy on using it any more. Here are a few links discussing the subject. Read between the lines, use your own judgement.

Ordered a 5 gallon pail (40lbs) of the stuff on ebay for $100 delivered to a US address. Advertised as 99% pure. This is a huge savings, about 10x less as those Noflex bottles are only 1lb of product at about $30 each. May even try diluting it with baking soda to the tune of 20%. That is a fair bit if product there.....wow.....a question.....due to the contents, will they ship in Canada without documents. I am guessing you know that material is hygroscopic so storage will be an issue, but you could do your laundry/clean the bilge etc for quite some time......good stuff....

They do not ship to Canada but there is always a solution. Put the product in a watertight pail today. Have a few of these at the shop which seal very well and are easy to open/close as required. im sure the problem must be shipping to canada on the noflex. cause in the states i can get 5 bottles for $78.76 and no shipping or tax from marine sanitation still some spendy but this last us quite a while seems like, 3 years. so really no big deal. it is still cheaper by weight in the pail you bought on ebay if it does the same ,im hoping you may have found a option to save, please post what when you know.

I figure at least 4 bottle of Noflex/season. You are supposed to use quite a bit if you follow the instructions that is. I purchased a case of 12 back in June 2020, have 4 bottles left and use it very sparingly, not like they recommended otherwise I would probably only have 1 left.

Marine Sanitation is the link I have in the original post. Todays price for 5 with free shipping is $105 US however this is in the US. That would be for 5 lbs

The difference here is the candian and usa difference.when I pull ip the Canadian website I see your pricing. . using the usa website where I live is this. when I posted the earlier link I ordered 5 at $78.76. If you add it to the cart it changes it to 2 different line items and the price changes/ discount. I am happy with how it's been working for me and maybe it's not used as heavily as the recommended dose. We use 2 or maybe 3 bottles a season. My wife handles this and I know we have used this for at least 8 years now. I'm not trying to make any deal with this and again it's cheaper in bulk if it's the same outcome.. so best of luck.

Yup...exchange + shipping + border fees usually make it around double the original price. Up here we have to be very careful, it is quite the minefield......

Over on the Club Sea Ray site there has been a long standing thread about this. Look up Carter's Poopy powder. Mix 2 parts Sodium Percarbonate with one par sodium carbonate and you have No Flex digester equivalent. I bought 1 10 lb bag of Sodium Percarbonate and 1 5 lb bag of Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash) so I have 15 lbs of product for $59 delivered from Amazon. I still had three bottle of No Flex so have not had a chance to mix and use the DIY version but will be feeling better about using more of it than I do the No Flex.

Thanks for the tip. Only thing I see different there is they are using a different ratio. The MSDS say it has 80% percarbonate which is a 4/1 ratio. May not make that much of a difference though.
