View the latest post Replace AC Circuit Breaker Panel?
- Posted by: cjblovinlife » January 2nd, 2025, 8:25 pm
- Forum: Electrical
I have a 1996 380 Santego . Some of the breakers on the AC panel are failing. I do not use a generator at all so I have no need for the shore power and generated power switches. I’m thinking about replacing the whole panel. Has anybody done this? Does anybody have any recommendations I see blue sea systems has a few options

Hi all,
In the fall when I went to take the boat out I discovered that a Muskrat had gotten in and chewed a nice big hole in my starboard muffler. I've searched online and haven't found any that look like they would be a direct drop in replacement.
Anyone know a source to get a replacement?
Thanks

Hello Carver Boatmates-
I am in the process of purchasing a 1986 27' Montego aft cabin with twin Mercruiser 4.3L, 4 cyl 190hp engines. I would be grateful for any member comments, whether positive or negative as to the boat and/or engines. It will be surveyed by Feb 15, 2025.
Thanks, and Happy NY!

View the latest post Attachment(s) 360SS Dash Refit
- Posted by: Alanna Mo Cree » January 1st, 2025, 10:23 am
- Forum: The Project Center
I've been working with New Wire Marine on ideas for redoing the dash on my 360 Sport Sedan. Unfortunately, the dash is broken up into a lot of different areas which makes having any kind of modern system difficult. My main question for the collective wisdom here, has anyone replaced the steam gauges on the top panel with digital displays or have any ideas?
So far the only display that looks like it might fit is the Simrad IS35 since the maximum vertical clearance on that panel is about 4.25 inches (105mm). I hate to introduce another manufacturer just to make it fit. The rest of the equipment is Garmin, but the GMI 20 looks like it is too big and too limited.
I really wanted to go with Veratron Oceanlink 4.3" displays because they include an analog to NMEA2000 gateway. This should work to make engine parameters available on the network until my next project to install the Fox Marine boxes.
And if I can get a numeric readout of the RPM for each engine I won't need the sync gauge. I can tell sync by sound, but not all of my crew can.
This is the area I'm referring to. Those five gauges would ideally be replaced by three displays--port and starboard engine with rudder and nav on centerline.
The crazy idea I last floated to New Wire was to fill in the top, left, and right panels as one panel using standoffs for support. In my mind this would allow cutting the mounting holes for the displays closer to the bottom of the top panel area without them hanging off the bottom of that panel. They haven't gotten back to me on how crazy that is yet.

View the latest post Decommission Red Dot on 355?
- Posted by: gmac98004 » December 30th, 2024, 11:09 pm
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
Hello Team,
I am seriously considering removing our Red Dot heater and replacing with a more useful Webasto or Wallas system on our 355. Would be much more useful for our purposes. Frankly, there has never been a reason to run our Red Dot while underway.
I do realize I'll need new 4" ducting and a new through hole for the vent hose. Our 355 has 6BT Cummins engines, so diesel is nearby.
Has anyone done this? Are there any hurdles or issues I should be aware of? Or is this a decommissioning to stay away from?
Thanks for any advice!
Happy New Year, Greg

View the latest post Attachment(s) Chartplotter upgrade C70 to GO9
- Posted by: Carverlvr2 » December 28th, 2024, 8:10 pm
- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
For anyone considering an electronics upgrade, here’s what I found and conquered.
Bought the 2004 366 a few months ago on a lake I’ve never boated and the PO that promised to run through all the features of the boat and show me around the lake…well, doubt I’ll see him again. The existing (and I assume original) Raymarine C70 didn’t display anything but lines when I seatrialed. Also no maps Compact Flash card either). Fired up perfectly in the survey. Finally figured out they have a known connection issue on the screens. Took it all apart, fixed the connection issue, ordered the software update and an “old” maps card. After all that, the maps and info were still so basic, I didn’t feel comfortable sneaking into any coves and hoping it was deep enough with no submerged logs or rock walls. I’m an ex car stereo installer so not afraid to cut if I have to but REALLY prefer not to. Did tons of reading/digging and only found one post where a guy had the same same c70 and went to Simrad GO9 but no details of the install. So, I waited till the Black Friday deals and had both, the Raymarine Axiom 9 and the Simrad GO9 in my hands for about $500 ea. The Axiom has an adapter for exactly my conversion but it’s another $70 and raises the plotter off the dash. And it needs a $70 adapter to use their own (and more expensive) transducer…and could not see how detailed their Lighthouse Maps are. Figured it was going to cost another $300 vs the Simrad that just, and I mean just, fits in the same opening. The C70 cut in was rough and far from strait. I love how cleanly it fits and sits in the dash. Simrad P70 in-hull transducer plugs right in, and even has a 2nd SIM card slot for another maps card if I want. Now I can add engine data, fuel and water tank info, and battery management! I’d love to hear from anyone that’s added engine data from their 2004 or newer Volvo Penta 8.1’s, or added any other data to their MFD. I apologize in advance for pix loading sideways or in reverse order.

View the latest post Rome Stopover. Tips for visiting ancient sites by yacht?

- Forum: Boating & Cruising Lifesyle
Hey Carver community!
Planning a stopover in Rome this summer with our Carver 42 during our Mediterranean cruise. I'd love to take the opportunity to visit the Roman Forum and Colosseum. Has anyone here done this excursion before? I've seen there are tourist passes and skip-the-line tickets (Roman forum tickets), but I'm not sure what to choose. Also, what's the best port to dock that's not too far from these sites?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!
