I kinda went down a rabbit hole here and decided I wanted the galley at salon floor level. Took some doing but I think it came out pretty good. No changes to the cabins fore or aft nor the heads. Just lifted the galley and banquete and updated the room decor. Guess I just have too much time on my hands now that i'm retired.

I am trying to prepare parts for a haul out.

I have a 1983 carver 28' mariner with a stuck rudder I believe the bearing or sleeve was damaged when trying to remove the prop laborer said he heard a crack. He used a piece of wood against the rudder to keep the prop from spinning while trying to loosen the prop castle nut.

I found a few parts but I am not sure exactly what my boat needs and before I haul out I want to have parts on hand to avoid wasted lay day fees.

I thought I might share this, I hope it is not inappropriate. My fume detector is old and you can no longer buy sensors for it. They recommend replacement every few years. A few days ago I was doing some engine maintenance and sitting on a bulkhead right by the sensor. My Wife had fed me some spicy beans for dinner. And I.... well anyway the bilge fans came on. Took me a couple seconds to realize what happened, but I guess the old fume sensor still worked. Cam

I am new to the forum so bear with me. Purchased a 1999 445 3 months ago and have found a fresh water leak slowly filing my aft bilge. The pressure pump to the system cycles when powered with no faucets or showers in use. There are no visible leaks but the bilge continues to fill. Pretty convinced the leak is coming from the holding tank when under pressure. Not sure how to access the tank to inspect it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Does anyone know if any of the 325 flybridge aft-cabins we're shaft driven and/or had twin screw diesel's? All I've found is the opposite, direct drive and gasoline engines. Thx!

Thanks to this forum, I finally mustered the courage and energy to tackle the aft cabin tv replacement. The OE (old) Panasonic 13” just wasn’t going to cut it. I read horror stories of 30+ nearly inaccessible screws, an unreachable nylon strap, and/or a ton of double stick tape. I’m very pleased to report that on my 2004 366, I was able to:
-pull the trim off with some carefully for efull tugs at each corner where the finish nails were shot in at the factory and covered,
-remove the two long-a$$ screws just in front of the tv and the one short one from the underside easily accessed from the hanging closet below.
-pulled the tv and mounted board out, cleaned 20yrs of dust, and tacked the trim back on.
Next I’ll mount the new bracket and 26” black Friday deals and post back with completed pix but the hardest part is done!!
Next up, new chartplotter and in-hull transducer.

New member, have a question/problem

So happy to have access to this Forum, its a great resource. I have had a 38 Egg and smaller cruise boats in past years. I am a Va Commercial Watermen, own an oyster farm, and starting to slow down to cruise more. So, I am not new to boating.

First off, a little about the boat. We bought it in August this year after looking for a year. We boat in the Chesapeake Bay and bought the boat from Knot10 Yacht sales, $845000 with Crusader 454XLs with 330 hrr, 130 hrs on 8KW Kohler generator. Very very low hours and structurally, mechanically and cosmetically near perfect, Surveyor said its 1 in a 100, he is the primary surveyor from Prince William Marine in Woodbridge, Va . Only survey issues were halon need recertifying and engine intake hoses need replaced. We have put 40 hrs on her since purchase cruising, only issue has been the generator belt broke. Easy fix, I run the engines easy, 2000 rpm mainly 10-11 mph

Now my new problem. Starboard shaft log dripping, 50 drips a minute which I think is too much, I pump out about 3 gals a day. Port is fine. I assume with the low hours that they have never been repacked. The leaking one is really really locked tight and may need to be heated. With cost to haul a given I am considering installing new dripless seals. access is so tight

Questions/opinions are:

Repack existing shaft seals or go dripless?

How to get better access. Only open access to the leaking one is via the small hatch in the cabinet under Master Stateroom TV. So limited. One young man, one arm in the hole. Do the steps come up easily.

What about the port shaft access? How can I get better access to that

Looked at a LOT of boats--deliberately bought a Carver

So boat is new to me and I'm trying to get her back in shape

Can't figure out how to actually get into the anchor locker in my 1990 3467?? There's a mirror above the berth that pulls away to reveal an opening which gives you a look in but a large cat couldn't fit thru it and it has a cross member right in the middle as well. Can't locate a deck side access--feel as though I'm missing something that's going to embarass me when it's pointed out.

Need to replace deck side waste flange and cap (stripped/cracked) so need to get at the waste hose connection on inside (don't want to chance loosing the WASTE hose by trying to pull from the topside) and would like to have a look at the chain condition while I'm in there (before deploying it).

Also only have an owners manual for a 380; have spent a fair amount of time looking for the rreal 90 3467 manual including this forum with no luck. Anyone HAVE or know if there was actually a 3467 manual? would really like to have prints/layouts/drawings
I know 38/380 is similar but know that it is different as well.

Hi All,

I recently bought a 2000 396 and have been working on getting her back in order after a few years of neglect. Can anyone please tell me where the black tank vent filter for the forward head is located and how to access it? My newly established pump out service had been only pumping one tank…sadly, the wrong one, so it backed up in the vent.
The vent seems to be clear now, but it think the filter has been fouled. I would like to remove it, bridge the line, flush the vent, and install a replacement, but I can’t find it.
There is a wood platform on top of the forward black tank, and I fear underneath is where the filter may be found, but I am not sure because the origins of all the lines seem to be visible. So before I start what seems a difficult process of removing that platform, I would love for someone to advise.

Once applied, should I put a plastic bag around the carburetors and lightly spray off the engines?
