View the latest post Carver 404-Engine Alarm Merc 7.4

Hi Fellow Carver Owners

I hope every one is having a great boating season. I have a 2000 Carver 404, twin Merc 7.4 gas engines. This is what I have been experiencing the last few runs with it:

* I start crusing and get up to around 11 Knots (maybe 3000rpm) and I get what I believe to be the engine alarm
* It use to happen very infrequently, but now happens more often
* If I shut the port engine down and restart it goes away, but will come back after awhile.
* All of the gauges look fine (oil pressure, water temp, et)
* The engine itself sounds and preforms weill

In the manual, it says the engine alarm monitors oil pressure and coolant temp. Both gauges are fine and I check and keep the oil filled.
A few questions:
* Any ideas on other things that set an engine alarm off?
* Can other instruments, such a fuel computer be wired into that alarm and then set it off (I don't trust my fuel computer)
* Is there any way to shut the alar off

Calling the mechanic this week, Was just curious if anyone had any thougths?

Thanks
Rich

View the latest post refinishing interior salon wall

So, Hubby and I plan to, over the next year or so, replace the ugly green carpet that the previous own put in on the floor and one of the walls in the salon. It appears that the carpet on the wall is glued to the hull. Will take any suggestions on how to remove safely. We are talking about just putting some 1/8" thick Baltic Birch plywood on the wall, glued with construction adhesive and properly finished. Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

View the latest post Navionics products for route planning

I have a Simrad NSS12 Chartplotter and own the Navionics Platinum Plus US Southeast and N Bahamas (906P+) chart pack. No issues with use on the boat and doing updates to the SD card using either the PC or phone/tablet.

I can make and save routes on the PC (Navionics’ site, Chart Viewer) and sync/view/edit them on the phone/tablet in the Navionics Boating HD app. I can edit the routes on the phone/tablet and it will sync to the PC.

I have the Boating HD app, but can’t load my Platinum Plus chart pack. The only charts available are the Government and Navionics 'basic' chart. Neither of which really have the fidelity to do route planning or even navigate safely (IMHO). From what I can tell, the only way you can load a Navionics' chart is to use the Navionics + app? My worry is that if I purchase the Navionics + app, I’d still have to ‘buy’ charts to use on the app. Am I correct? Or can I ‘load’ my Platinum Plus chart pack - I’m guessing not, since the charts I see listed in Navionics + don’t include the chart pack I own.

One last thing - how can I transfer the routes I make on the PC/phone/tablet to the chart SD card so I can use them on the boat’s chartplotter.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have a Simrad NSS Evo 3? The system we bought includes insight charts and Broadband 4G™ radar and 3D transducers.

Would love your thoughts on pros and cons of our decision....

View the latest post Caver 3207 head issue

Forward and Rear Head issue on my 86 carver 3207. the forward head worked as it should however today when flushing the plastic piece on the pump broke i will post a picture of it later ... its hard to explain... The rear head wont pump water into the system you push the button and no water comes into the tank .... it pulls in seawater and the valve is open. there is a T fitting that feeds the forward and rear head..... now i unscrewed the square block on the rear head to see if there was suction and there was... so i'm not understanding why no water is flowing......Does anyone know the model of the head so i can find parts or should i replace both heads ... i'm so tempted to strip the rear head and fix the front lol
