View the latest post Long Island, NY to Savannah, Ga

Good afternoon! As a new member and new Carver owner.....Looking for some advice already. We purchased the 2003 444 CMY up on Long Island, NY and ultimately, need to get it to Panama City Beach, FL. Wanting to do this in 2 legs (NY-Savannah) (Savanna-PCB). Lots of info about the ICW but not much about taking her on the outside for purposes of time. Yes, there are risks in regard to weather, but outside of that.....is it a bad idea?

Good afternoon! My wife and I just closed on a 2003 Carver 444 CMY. While we have a lot of experience with 20 footer's, this is our first biggie! Looking forward to learning a lot. Thank you in advance.

View the latest post Engine Monitoring Displays

My engines are Volvo Penta 8.1GIL-E. I want to capture the engine data from them, in particularly fuel burn. These motors are equipped to output this information. Has anyone connected the output to their Raymarine chart plotter or installed one or two of the Volvo Penta displays (2.5", 4", 4" Color, or 7")?

I'm very comfortable with doing the work but would like to hear from someone who has done it or contracted to have it done. Volvo Penta unfortunately does not share any information with end users and I am having no luck thus far getting a call back from V-P dealers in my area. Very happy with the motors, no so much with V-P's unwillingness to share information about their aftermarket products.

Thanks,
Dan

View the latest post Water Heater Element

Well I have cooked my water heater element. Stupid mistake and I will skip the details. Suffice to say trying to do to many things at once!!!.

It is an Atwood 11 gallon. I got on their web sit and found the exploded drawing of the heater and it looks like a pretty straightforward repair. I think the hardest part of this will be getting my 6'4" frame into where the heater is LOL. I ordered the element which was in stock at my supplier... he told me they always keep 15 or so in stock!!! It seems I am not alone in this plight.

We are off to Pointe Au Baril this weekend so I want get it fixed so the Admiral does not have to endure a cold shower.

Cheers
Fraser

View the latest post Just sayin hello!

Hi all. My wife and I graduated from a 22' pontoon to a 89 3067. She has 2 freshly rebuilt motors and outdrives, new steering and throttle cables. All she needs is the tlc that the previous owner either did not have time for or desire to do. We are really enjoying making it ours. We are also finding that it has been one of the few purchases we have made that the longer we own her, the more we like her.

Prepare yourselves for the many questions I will have. This is a whole new world to me. I do have the advantage of belonging to a great boat club that has a lot of older very knowledgeable members that are willing to help out at a moments notice.

We are river boaters that are located on the Ohio River where it meets the Beaver River.
