View the latest post Wooden platform under batteries

I have a 1990 3297. The batteries in this model are located in the engine room between the engines. They battery boxes sit on a wooden platform only an inch or so above the hull. This wooden platform frequently gets wet whenever any water makes its way into the engine room. The water level required to activate the bilge pump is quite a bit higher than the level of the platform, so it frequently gets wet and stays that way. I would like to replace the wood with starboard or something similar. Can anybody tell me how this wooden platform is secured, or how it would be removed?

View the latest post New 450 Voyager owner

Just wanted to say hello after my first summer with my new to me 450 Voyager. I picked the boat up in Massachusetts in May after a year and a half search. We live in NJ and drove as far as Jacksonville FL and Midland Canada looking for the right 450. Finally made a deal in February, next thing you know COVID shuts everything down and I have a stroke 3 days before my scheduled sea trial. It all worked out in the end. I owned a 1989 3888 Bayliner that I loved but my wife wanted something bigger. I know, crazy right. I enjoyed working on the Bayliner and I have plans to improve/update the Voyager as well. Looking forward to learning about the boat on this forum and sharing any information I can.
Regards
Pete

View the latest post cockpit and bridge carpet

I have a 1997 Voyager320 that is in need of exterior carpet for both the cockpit and bridge. Outside of hitting up the local carpet store for something that might work
, any thoughts of those that might specialize in marine? We're located in Maryland.

View the latest post Need helps identifying model info for 1996 Kohler 8kW generator with Yanmar diesel

Hi,

It has been an adventure getting my new-to-me 1996 Carver 455 mechanically sound, but it seems the major stuff has been ironed out. Now it's time for winterizing and preventative maintenance.

My 8kW Kohler generator has a Yanmar motor, but the serial number label is mostly covered with paint and I can't read it. The generator is so far running great, but the prior owner used various different replacement filters and I would like to know the OEM partnumbers so I can make sure I'm using the right stuff. I looked at cross-references for the current NAPA filters and they match multiple different Fleetguard filters...

On the label I can make out the last few numbers above "YANMAR" ---------51340
And below "YANMAR" it appears to be TS22 5B 8 I'm sure the 8 is for 8kW, and there may or may not be something between the TS22 and the 5B.

Google searches on the partial numbers didn't help. I tried cleaning the paint off with acetone and it didn't come off (at least not readily). I tried scraping but seemed like it would damage the label. I tried rubbing a pencil over paper but the paint is too thick to show.

I hope you are all well in the midst of Covid-19, be smart and stay safe!

View the latest post Rotella?

Elsewhere on the forum is a topic on oil, where, as I read it, some are advocating Rotella, an oil formulated for diesel engines, for their gassies. Why? What are the advantages of this over 'normal' oils?

View the latest post Yacht Devices J1708 Engine Gateway, connects older Engines to NEMA 2000

Hi All,
Just trying to plan some winter projects.
Does anyone have any knowledge about these devices?
I have Volvo D6 Diesel's with the EVC but it's an older version that doesn't interface to the EVC displays.
Hoping something like this will work as I'd like to check my turbo's, fuel consumption, fault codes from my engines. etc... on my Garmin 7212's or other MFD's.
Thanks,
