Unless it was replaced it is indeed an Onan MCCK 6.5. I have an 84 3697 as well with this genset, let me know if you have any questions- I'll do my best to help!
Thanks,
Ben in SC

Thanks Guys... Somebody was messing with it and I think stole one of the heat sensors.. Nice... I'm guessing not easy parts to find.

If it's an MCCK, parts are out there but typically pricey. Some parts are obsolete on earlier specs but likely available on-line The MCCK units are pretty much all the same with some minor engine component differences over the years, and control and generator assembly changes. You'll need to know the spec; A, B, C, etc. to ensure you get the right parts.

Why do you "think" a sensor is missing and what is the unit doing/not doing? Is it running?

Have you tried running it? I believe the switch is NC (normally closed) so jumping the two wires will complete the ignition circuit. You shouldn't use the unit without the switch but this will allow you to see if it actually runs if you've never had it running before.

Yeah thats exactly the plan.. It has run perfectly but I haven't had it running for a couple years now.. Its going to require some tinkering.. I havent tried to fire it yet since I noticed the missing part
