95 Carver Mariner 330

Postby Cooperlogan » September 30th, 2021, 4:42 pm

asking if both engines are the same rotation
does this confirm the port eng v drive changes the prop to go counter clockwise
Also if both engines are the same rotation does that mean that distributors are identical

Welcome aboard. Ya more info would help, though for that vintage it's likely they are standard rotation engines.

The starboard engine keeps cutting out when trying to plane
There are pm's get up to about 2800 and then drop the 15 and then back on forth back on 4th
I have swapped carburetors coils and switched gas tanks
I have a fuel pump and distributor left to check
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'd start with fuel issues first... they are much more likely than other things. Have you checked/changed the filters (ALL of them?) When you switch gas tanks does it still go through the same filters?

Yes when switching tanks it goes through the same filters And yes I have changed all filters twice Fuel pump pressure is little over for 4 PSI
but that is Sitting at the dock I have not checked fuel pressure while underload yet
I am thinking of changing the field pump so that will be eliminated

I have the same vessel. My Crusaders are counter rotating. Look at the model number of each engine. They are probably CM350R and CM350L. The "R" or "L" at the end of each number means Right or Left. When you say 350, do you mean 5.7 XL, or the 350 XL? That engine RPM drop is fuel issues 90% of the time. Draw some fuel out of the bottom of the tank, an let it sit in a clear jar for a while. You will see if there is water in the fuel. Are you running with ethanol blended gas? These engines hate that. Welcome aboard, you have a great boat! 8-) er

Thanks for all the feedback From everyone so far
Cooler - My engines are 350XL crusader 270 horse
I switched the starboard engine to the port tank but I am not sure the switch actually went through Since I never realized I could switch tanks before
I always thought they were just shut off Bells under the diner seat is dynamic is that where yours are or and have you ever switched tanks
