Run a New Transducer cable on a 396 Carver

Does anyone have experience running a wire from the bridge dashboard to the bilge on a Carver 396 to install a new transducer? There must be somewhere that I could run a snake down from top to bottom.

On ours, under the bridge helm there is a large panel held on with eight screws. Open that and you have access to behind the helm electronics. You can then see where the throttle cables are run - which lead down to the engineroom. Maybe look where the throttle cables leave the bridge and then go into the engineroom and see where they enter there. I've never traced it out fully, but hopefully this gives you some ideas. It makes sense as the throttle cables need a lot of room for them to pass through.
I will be at the boat in a few days and take a look in there.

I hope this is the model I have in mind...if you have the electrical panel on starboard side as soon as you go down the stairs into the cabin, the side wall up against the sliding door has a vinyl panel with 3 or 4 screws, remove that panel and you'll see where wiring and cables go from the bridge to the engine room. If I recall, there are 2 tubes that run forward to the helm behind that panel.

If that doesn't apply to your application, there's usually a wiring/cable race that runs up the port or starboard aft corner of the cabin where you remove a panel for access.

I hired an Marine Electrician to to run a cable for a new radar system. What a pain. The lock ring that goes from the dash to the dome was too big to run through the hollow part of the aluminum support for the roof of the aft deck. He had to cut the ring off the fitting (because you cant cut the data cable) and order a special split collar from a guy he knew at Garmin and then come back to the marina and finish the job. All the extra time and running around used up all the money in my budget to figure out how to get a transducer cable from the dash to the bilge. So the transducer project is on hold.
