I get an alarm from the electric shift throttle unit when powering up the bridge electronics. The alarm can be silenced by pressing the "select" button on the throttle mount but the LEDs for FWD, Neutral and REV continue to flash. The shift & throttles work but this is clearly not normal operation. Has anyone else experienced this?
It seems from my Google search that this may be a communication issue that can be related to the powering up sequence?
I've tried cycling the switches on the servo units in the engine room (electric shift to manual shift) which has worked in the past, but no joy this time.
Thx

Re: Electric Shift - Carver 396
What engines do you have and do you have the brand/model for your shifter? Mine are Cummins diesels and everything is mechanical so I'm not much help, but if you could give a little more info about your setup it might help. Good luck and welcome!!

Can you elaborate/clarify what's going on? What "bridge electronics" are you powering up? (radar?radio?plotter?) Are the engines already running fine when you're doing this and THEN you get the alarm?

Re: Electric Shift - Carver 396
Hi km1125,
I've realised that powering up the bridge electronics has nothing to do with the electric shift. It seems the latter is powered up when the engine battery isolators on the safety panel (aft stateroom) are switched on.
Yesterday, I tried cycling these. If I power up the port engine first followed by STB then the electric shift alarm sounds briefly then stops. The LEDs on the throttle unit are stable (presumably Comms established ok). Powering up STB first seems to cause a constant alarm & flashing LEDs as previously described. Weird.
