View the latest post Attachment(s) Hull number deciphering, what info does this give?

Got the following message from Jim through a PM, I seem to remember that the hull number is built up of various segments that refer to certain location/year and perhaps model. The latter is what Jim is looking for as apparently there's a lot missing from the boat he obtained.

@jim: insert some pictures here, surely someone can tell you more about that particular model.

View the latest post Attachment(s) 1984 Carver Mariner 3697 rear Ac model number request

Hi,

I attached a photo of where the rear AC is located for reference. Mine was removed before the purchase, so just need the make and model number so I can acquire it. Any alternatives are also welcome. The FWD AC has a Cruisair stowaway v sh12/ 12000 beta. Icemaker brand and model number too if you're super bored :) Thanks in advance.

View the latest post '89 Santego 38 Fiberglass panel under rear platform

My friends have an '89 Santego and the thin panel under the platform came off. It was one big piece and had a wooden strip on the transom that was used to screw that part in place and the wood rotted, allowing the front to scoop water- that ripped it off and when they reversed, it tore up the wires for the lights I had installed.

I'm looking for info about a better material to use for a replacement but if someone in the Milwaukee-Chicago (or, along the East cost of Wisconsin) area has one of these panels, I might be interested.

Thanks, in advance.

View the latest post Restoreing a Carver 2557 twin 3.7

Hello everyone new here. I'm a commercial service Tech for commercial cooking equipment. I picked up this Carver a year ago and it was supposed to be turnkey ready we all know how that goes. I've invested little over $25,000 in new parts and upgrades. I wish I documented what I've done to the Carver as I went along because it's really quite interesting. Here's my question I was upgrading some of the wiring inside the boat . I was installed a new grounding bar in the cabins 12 V electrical Box the grounding in there was very much inadequate. I accidentally hit the ground wire against the 12 V bus on the electrical panel and blue the breaker or fuse from the battery to the panel. Normally this isn't an issue for me But I had surgery 5 months ago and digging around these compartments is very difficult for me at the moment. Any knowledge anybody has could be a big help . The schematics shows an Orange wire coming from the battery to the breaker Box in the cabin and it should be fused. But I can't find where they tied into the engine or battery. And again thank you for any help anybody can give me.

View the latest post New owner

Hello all,
I am about to become a new/first time owner of a Carver 380 SANTEGO.

Experience:
I have owned a small sea ray, and have done my fair share of time on a sail boat. I am also former navy.

I own a RV rental and RV repair company. I bought the Carver to rent.
I know less than zero about owning a boat like this, and am pretty sure it will be different than my old bowrider...

I am good with electrical and fiberglass work...
While I know engines, I am not knowledgeable on these marine engines.

I look forward to learning from many of you guys.

I will be getting a pre-purchase inspection. Any tips on what to lookout for from you old dogs is welcome.

View the latest post Kohler 3kw generator not putting out power

So I started my generator like I normally do just to keep things working and it starts fine but, never kicks in to "high gear" and start putting out power. Just stays in the "idel" mode. Starts and stops with no problem. Never had the issue before. Any thoughts? Thanks.

View the latest post Adding solar - Replace battery charger or just add inverter

Looking for advice.

I have a 456 year 2000. This boat does not have an inverter just battery charger. I want to add solar to avoid running geny (or at least limit the time it is running) while anchored. The purpose of solar addition is to operate my fridge (which is ac only) and maybe another outlet for computers etc.

I am trying to decide if I should replace battery charger with a new unit that is a battery charger/inverter, thus tying solar into the boats entire electrical system, or just keep the present design and add an inverter and enough batteries to run the fridge independently while not on shore power.

I have lots of room to mount solar, house batteries and could easily arrange inverter installation beside my fridge enabling me to plug into shore power/geny or switch and plug into inverter/solar.

Any past experience/ideas will be appreciated.

Thank-you

View the latest post Draining some gas?

My 390 is on teh hard, and since it has been warm and the high angle the bow is in, some gas was leaking out of the vent on starboard side. I loosened the fill cap and all stopped leaking, however, yard asked me to drain 10 or so gallons out. Sounds easy! HOWEVER, when i tried to put a 5/8” ninny l hose down the fill pipe it went in about 3’ or so and stopped. I moved it around, twisted it, etc, but it made a sound like it had bottomed out in teh tank, however, the end was not wet. So i figured there may be a screeb(?) at the tank inlet? I went to HD and got a 3/8” poly ice make line, as it is stiffer, and again, teh same thing happened. I turned and twisted, but after 10 minutes I gave up.

Does anyone know if there is a screen/grate at the filler neck on top of the tank? All I can think of ..

Thanks !
