Good Afternoon all, just joined as i am a new boat owner to my 1981 Carver Santa Cruz 2866. Love the boat, in excellent shape but i am trying to see where i can find some small misc. things like exterior front windshield covers, flybridge cover.
Not sure if i am better off having stuff like that made from a local shop. Any help pointed in the right direction to look will be great.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Wood restoration

Hi. Has anyone ever found a way to restore the wood to like new condition? The furniture in some places has hair line cracks and would love not to see this. Here’s a photo of what I’m talking about. Thanks in advance!

View the latest post Attachment(s) 2004 444 - help identifying this starboard tank

Hi folks,

New 444 owner here - with an embarrassing question :-P

I've gone through all the documentation I can find, but still can't identify the pictured tank.

The opposite port tank is obviously fresh water, and I see the forward holding tank closer to the keel. The boat is not equipped with a gray water system. Is this somehow also fresh water?

Any insight much appreciated!

View the latest post Raymarine Axiom+ 12" MFD Heading Source

I am new to Carver, but not to Raymarine electronics. I have a new Axiom+ 12" MFD I just installed, that is connected to a SeaTalk converter with the NEMA 2K cable and a RayNet switch with a RayNet cable. The switch has three connections: Axiom 9" MFD, Axiom+ 12" MFD and Quantum Doppler radar. The SeaTalk converter has two connections: one from Axiom+ 12" MFD NEMA 2k cable and one from legacy Raymarine ST60+ Depth display. I receive and display the depth info fine on the Axion screen, but no Heading info is displayed. When I check the Data sources, it finds the SeaTalk converter for the depth, but nothing for Heading. On a Carver, is there a heading sensor that outputs heading data on a NEMA 2k or NEMA 0183 bus? If so, where is it located?

When I bought the boat, a 2005 Carver 41' CMY, it had one Axiom 9" MFD that only displayed basic chart info and a separate Raymarine ST60+ depth display. On a Sea Ray boat the heading data stream would come from a heading sensor under the dash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Santego 3867 replace packing in the water?

I've done this on sailboats, but they have much smaller shafts. Will I be in for a flood if I try this on the Santego?

View the latest post I'm in trouble!

Ahoy all!

I'm a new owner of a 1993 Carver 440Aft Cabin and am wondering what I got in to.

The wiring has been cannibalized over 30 years and I have absolutely no manufacturers manuals, drawings, schematics NADA Nuthin....

Numerous problems have arisen in the short month since purchase and I'm losing faith.

So lets start with the easy stuff

What is the mystery switch under the windlass switch on the upper helm for? The previous owner has no Idea.

And not so easy...
I attached shore power at the marina I'm at and I had voltage and things all worked. Then they didn't. So I replaced all the cables, and splitter/adapters with new. twin 30A 125 to single 50A 125/250 then back to twin 50A 125 to tie into the boat. I see voltage for about 1 min then it all goes away. I checked the shore power at the plug and I see voltage. Everything works perfect when I'm operating on generator power.

And Finally
I would give my firstborn male child (relax I only have girls) for any information, especially wiring, manuals, drawings ANYTHING

That said I would appreciate any help, advice, narcotics, hammers, and/or hemlock to help me figure this thing out. I have a decent background in this stuff but the rats nests are aggravating me now.

I'm 66 retired (disabled) an 8 year Submarine veteran (operated the nuclear propulsion plants) and spent the rest of my life in critical environment infrastructure.

I'm always up for a challenge but this is ridiculous.

Thanks for your help
God Bless
Mike

View the latest post Carver 3807 prop size

Hello to the group, I’ve been looking at an 1988 3807. The boat won’t run over about 3000 rpm on both engines. Gas, 454 Mercruiser with 23x25 props. I don’t have an exact comparison but I have seen other boats of similar size and weight running 22x22. Does anyone know what the 3807 came with originally?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Fireboy-Xintex Gas Fume Detector alarm

The M-2A display is mounted in the salon of my 1988 4227. I noticed that the "Unit fault indicator" was amber color. Sensor #1 is off, sensor #2 is green. The 'test' buttons don't do anything. Serial number on back of unit indicate manufacture date in 1995. Called Fireboy for some assistance, no answer, probably because it's the weekend? So posting to see if anyone knows something about this system.
I'm assuming the unit fault indicator means the gas fume sensor is bad. Is this a good assumption?
If so, I cannot find the sensor! Have searched all over the engine room. Any ideas where that sensor might be located??
Thank you

View the latest post Aft Deck panel spacers

1994 Carver 390. On aft upper deck we have polycarbonate panels around the sides. There are spacers between the panels and the railing held on by Plastic type rivets. We had damage during Hurricane Lee. REAL damage. The wind blew all of 23 KTS, and it popped off TWO, yes TWO of the rivets. Sadly the white spacers, round, about 1.25” flat on one side, half moon to fit around the rail on other side. I have seen the rivets, but have not seen the spacers. Any ideas of where?

All seriousness, hurricane was a total bust, thank all who can control it!

Thanks for any help!

Best,

Tony
