I have a 1998 Mariner 350.
If you have the same boat….do you have D-Vee wonder at slow speeds, like around 6 to 8 mph?

View the latest post Flush mount Rod Holders

I bought some flush mount rod holders and went to install them today. While drilling pilot hole I hit wood at about 1 inch. Is there a spot to install them that has nothing under the fiberglass. The boat is a 1989 Santego 640 model 3897. Thank you for any advise

View the latest post 2000 Carver 350 Mariner - new to us

Yep, made another plunge into boat ownership . . . and this one is definitely an overgrown version of 2-foot-itis! I've loved boats for years and a Wizard 16' fiberglass (1959) was our family boat while growing up (Indianapolis) . . . moved up to a 2003 Bayliner 2452 (Hard top express cruiser . . . hint, hint [now for sale]) and now the Admiral has fallen for the Carver. So much for my story . . . . on with the survey!! Here's hoping that all's well . . . . :-)

View the latest post new owner of 1998 380 santego

We recently purchased our first carver stepping up from a 290 celebrity, wow we love this thing with all the room and amenities. I had a small generator issue the water pump locked up chewing the teeth of the timing belt after getting a service manual not a big deal. Does anyone know the replacement led bulb part numbers for salon lighting? Can't wait to have an entire summer with this thing.

View the latest post Carver Soft Goods

Just a small note about soft goods on Carver boats/ yachts (curtains, canvas, upholstery, carpet, etc). Carver has always made these items in house. They never subcontracted these items out. The only exceptions would be inner spring mattresses (not foam ones) and Flexsteel furniture. All wood items, railings and plexiglass/ starboard items are also made in house. They typically keep patterns active for approximately 7 years after a model has ended production. Just thought this might be helpful information for people who are looking to replace these items or looking for the vendor that supplied them.

View the latest post I Need A New GPS

Last August I purchased my Carver. It is an 81 with some old electronics. The marine VHF radio transmits but does not receive. I think the speaker is shot so I will be purchasing a new VHF when I launch next month. The GPS worked my first time out and it worked good. When I next came aboard the unit would not turn on. I called Garmin gave them the model number. They said the unit is so old they no longer have any parts to repair it. They said it is a unit from the 80's.

I was really wanting to update the GPS anyway so the fact that the unit died only means I will need to replace it sooner rather than later. I was hoping to get this upcoming season out of the old unit but twas not to be.

I stopped by my local West Marine yesterday and looked at a few units mainly Garmin. I have narrowed it down to these two units (for now).

I love the 9" screen on this model. It has a lot of data on the maps and at least the one in the store has some good data for Canadian waters.

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the- ... 19867.html

This model is smaller has a lot of map data and is a touch screen vs the buttons on the 9" model above.

For the record I am leaning towards the 9" model as I love the size of the screen better than the 7" model. My old one was a 5" screen so going bigger was something I want to do when I get my next unit.

What say ye...................

View the latest post Carver 32 (3207) 1990 - Curtains

Based in London, England we don't have much access to many spares or new old stock for our boat.

However, we did mange to get some new Side Vents from searayman13 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOAT-VENT-7-L ... VFicqbased in Massapequa, New York.

Anyone 'across the pond' know if we can still obtain curtains 'off the shelf' so to speak ?

Thanks & regards,

Phil
