View the latest post Attachment(s) Spark when hooking up Negative Terminal

Hello (Again)! lol

Boat was sitting all winter, and rainwater got into the engine area and filled up my bilges pretty high.

After replacing all three batteries with brand new ones, I was hooking the wires up the same way as I took them off.

The last battery, which had a predominantly black wire with a little orange line in it, started sparking.

It may have been one of the bilges kicking on, but the batteries were turned off. I tried leaving it on to see if I could hear water pumping out.

I hear a click near the battery switches, and am thinking it blew the fuse there. Does anyone know why this would happen?

Thank you in advance.
Brian

View the latest post Attachment(s) New member, need a cover/door

Hello Everyone,
We just bought a 2004 360 Sport Sedan, pleased so far. I am in need of a swim platform - "shore power cord, cover/door". The current one has been walked on enough that it's cracked and very spongy. Does anyone know where I might get another one? If there is a proper name for the cover or door, please let me know, my searches have produced no results.
Happy to be aboard,
Todd

View the latest post Tachometer source of power

Hi Fellas,
Our 36 Carver has twin Volvo Penta 740B gas engines. My port tach has stopped working over the winter, I checked the connections and everything looks good. Would anyone know if the tachs are driven from the alternator or the distributer?
Thanks for any help

View the latest post Attachment(s) Drain Plug Location 1989 Santego

I hope this message finds you well. I recently acquired a 1989 34' Santego, and I’m in a bit of a bind. Unfortunately, the drain plug wasn’t removed over the winter, and I’m having difficulty locating it. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could share a picture or diagram indicating its location. I’ve managed to remove a significant amount of water using a trash pump, but there’s still a concerning amount left in the bilge and below in the engine area. :help:

View the latest post AC filter material

Hello brothers
Going down to the boat Saturday and going to be hot I was wondering if I can take the filter out, clean it and put it right back in or does it need to dry? Guessing it would probably need to dry
Thanks

View the latest post Drive Train Confusion

Hello all, i have a 1993 carver 350 aft cabin the previous owner somehow bent the shaft it also had a little damage to the prop. This winter i removed the shaft and props and had them all refinished (New Shaft) .... reinstalled everything dropped the boat in the water .. and again anything over 1200 rpm it wobbles again... a bit frustrating as you can imagine... Any idea what could be causing this ? could it be the struts holding the shaft? if so where can i get some of those ... Thanks in advance...

View the latest post cabin door lock - Carver 350 Mariner

Hi - I'm brand new to the forum and hope I'm in the right place for my question. I have a 2002 Carver 350 Mariner and recently the lock to the cabin door (sliding glass door) gave up the ghost. The key turns easily, but the lock mechanism is no longer moving/closing. Has anyone else ever had this issue and, if so, who could I call that could possibly repair it? I tried a locksmith and he said since the lock body is inside the channel of the sliding door, he wouldn't be able to repair it. Should I call a sliding glass door company or does anyone have other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

View the latest post AC - Adding a relay to feed the AC water pump - Alarm

Hello everyone, just made it to Mobile AL this week in my Carver from Chattanooga TN. Great trip!

Looking for info on a relay to use (in front / Galley bilge) to close / open the 120V 10Amp circuit that feeds my AC water cooling pump. A 12V powered relay, allowing a 120 V 10-amp circuit to be started and stopped by the relay.

Why am I doing this?
1) I leave my AC on in the boat - It is Hot down here.
2) I am in brackish / salt water now so corrosion could create a leak in that system
3) My Victron Cerbo GX has a relay switch that can throw on alarm open/close.
4) I also monitor for high water in the bilge that alarms

The thought is if the high water alarm goes into alarm mode, The Cerbo deenergizes the N/O relay thus disconnecting the AC 120V power to the AC pump. If the pump is filling the boat, this will stop that from continually filling the boat with water. If it is leaking in the boat. Both AC's will go off but, at least the water will not continually fill the boat.

Side note: many of my videos from the trip are up on YouTube
