Anyone know what the WOT should be on this boat with these engines? I can hit 4,000 to 4100 max and am doing 29 MPH. Is this where I should be?

View the latest post Enigines out of sync then back in

Hi all - looking for a place to start with this one. We have a 1982 3396 Carver Mariner with twin 350 crusader engines. As we were coming back from a day trip all of a sudden the engine sync gauge would drift to the port side ( about 3/4 of the way ) then after a second or 2 it would come back to center. You could hear a difference in the engines so it shouldn't be just a gauge issue. This would happen every 10 or 15 minutes - The Tach's did not show a difference in RPM in either engine but given the sync was only off by a little I am not surprised. We were cruising around 7 / 7.5 knots. Any thoughts would be appreciated. As an addendum - We went out again and it the issue did not reoccur until we we out about 40 minutes or so.

Thanks in advance

View the latest post 2000 carver 350 mariner

We recently checked out one of these and have a couple questions.

The large hatch cover in the galley floor right by the wall to the head....this one had a plywood piece under the hatch cover, What is that for, is that in all ??

The air conditioning had only one controller that I could find, I am assuming from this that it is only one heat/air unit...yes??

Any comments on the 6.2 MPI Mag engines and how is to work in the engine compartment ?...Thanks

View the latest post Hello from New Zealand

Just purchased a 2003 366 with twin 280HP Cummins. One owner boat with only 108 hours. In the process of shipping the boat to my home town of Auckland New Zealand.
Why a 366?
My wife & I have owned motor yachts for around 30 years but we needed a yacht now without ladders, lots of space & a bathroom each! Plus we have a 40ft marina & it will fit on this nicely after we hang a dingy off the back.
Some work to do due to the Cummins engines being under used and just sitting - but the boat itself is immaculate.
Looking forward to getting it home in early November & getting into intercooler servicing & water pump upgrades.

View the latest post Attachment(s) carpeted stairs have to go!!!

On my 1994 Carver 370 aft cabin, the main salon stairs as well as stairs down to galley and back to aft cabin were all carpeted. The main staircase had a cheesy plastic runner "protecting" the carpet. After a couple of near catastrophic slips, the carpet has got to go. I'm in the home stretch of the improved tread replacement. I took about an inch off the edge of the plywood stair treads and glued / screwed 1" wide bull nose teak edging. I installed it so it was ~5mm proud of the old tread. I then ordered a sheet of Seadeck material to cut and fit into the recess. Got it all done except the very top main salon tread ( have to make a complicated template for that one). Also had to use some body filler to level off an area around transition between the fiberglass and the top stair tread. So far I'm liking it much better, there is now visual contrast between the tread and the edge of the tread, much easier to see the edges of the tread. Old blue carpet was all on color an made it difficult to navigate in dim light. Also replaced the cheesy rope light with something better (and LED based) [https://www.amazon.com/Voltage-Waterproof-Outdoor-Stairs-Landscape/dp/B015J2HYV6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1470416417&sr=8-3&keywords=led+stair+lights]
Will post pictures of final results soon!

View the latest post Hull Speed

I have a 1981 3007 Aft Cabin powered by twin 270 Crusaders (5.7's) I have a trip coming up next week. It is just under a 40 mile run. I am contemplating trying to make the crossing at hull speed. On this boat I am not sure what speed that would be. What I am thinking of is powering up to 2000 RPM which should give me a rough speed of 9 MPH or so. Is this setting to high. Should I use a lower setting say 1500 or 1600.

If any other 1981 or 1982 3007 owners have done this give me your input as to what settings worked out best for you.

View the latest post Whats your vote for the best battery charger?

I know there are some other battery charger posts, but lets start a new one. Its been a bit slow on here.

My 1998 Charles C charger is acting up. One bank charges when ever it feels like it. All connections are good. All batteries are only 4 months old.

Who has the good, the bad and the ugly on....

Any others

Current charger is a 40 amp three bank Charles, I guess 18 years is not a bad run.

Thanks
Tom
